Honesty and justice, heroic courage, compassion, polite courtesy, complete sincerity, honor, duty and loyalty—the traditional code of the Japanese samurai stressed these seven traits. Known as Bushido, or “the way of the warrior,” these values are still relevant in today’s world.
If you are a leader or aspire to be one, understanding this code and adopting the Bushido mindset can help you succeed in business and in life. The “way of the warrior” is necessary for survival in the current economy, and the authors have provided solid tools and weapons to arm you accordingly.
As one of several top-level coaches lending their knowledge and wisdom to this book, Sylvia Becker-Hill contributed “Leaders with Four Hearts”. In this chapter she shares the coaching model she developed based upon the concept of the inner warrior. This model is designed to trigger positive transformation one leader, or warrior, at a time.
To increase your competitive advantage, master the principles of Bushido Business—the fine art of the modern professional—and set yourself apart!
A great summer read with action-provoking exercises and questionnaires that have the power to forever change your priorities and beliefs about what matters in your life:
“The How of Happiness. A scientific approach to getting the life you want” by Sonja Lyubomirsky. Don’t ask me how to pronounce the author’s name . Just buy and read it. You can get a German translation too. One of my female executive clients in Duesseldorf gave it away as a gift to more than ten people in the first six weeks after she read it!
One of my favorite books is My Stroke of Insight: A Brain Scientist’s Personal Journey by Jill Bolte Taylor, Ph.D. It deepened my fascination regarding our amazing brain and our ability to heal and rewire it. Read it and you will learn in simple language things you didn’t know about your brain and your own huuuuge potential. This book changed me. I now have a new, more empowered relationship with learning, routines and difficult undertakings. Do yourself a favor and read it.
